This article provides a quick guide to understanding eMAR (electronic Medication Administration Record) metrics as a high-level Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for your business.
Think of eMAR metrics as a quick, company-wide visualisation of medication administration. It provides very high-level information to help managers quickly understand patterns in medication administration over a specific time frame and at a client level.
What eMAR Metrics Show You πΉ
The goal of this business metric is to give managers a company-wide overview of medication administration performance. Your eMAR metrics will provide totals over a selected time frame, or a view for individual clients, showing the number of doses that were:
Given: The total number of doses successfully administered to clients.
Missed: The total number of doses that were not administered.
Not Given: The total number of doses that were not given for documented, care-related reasons (e.g., client refusal).
Variance on the previous month's performance

What eMAR Metrics Are Not

Not an Auditing Tool: This metric is not designed to help with auditing medication
Not a Detailed Compliance Report: It is a high-level KPI visualisation, not a compliance dashboard.
