Medication list it is now split into 3 categories:

  • Scheduled: Those mandatory medicines that have a time label (Morning, noon, afternoon, tea, evening, etc)

  • No Time: those medications that were not assigned a time label (our suggestion is to add a time label to every medicine when possible. If a time label cannot be added, adding clear instructions will prevent confusion and errors)

  • As Needed (PRN): These medicines that can be administered 'as needed' (also known as PRN). As needed medications will be visible here regardless of whether or not the medication has a time label.

If all medication for the client has a time label, the "No time" category won't be visible:

The first list that the carer will see while completing medication administration is the Scheduled medication list. The carer will need to report Given or Not Given and then click the Confirm as checked button to proceed:

For every medication, the carers need to select accordingly either: Given or Not Given. If the medication was prompted, refused, not founded, administered by a family member, self administered, etc the right option is NOT GIVEN and next select the REASON. Leaving the medication without selecting any of Given or Not Given will mark the medication as MISSED in the eMAR.

This will take the carer to the next list and an orange bubble will remind them to check the medication list. They will then proceed to the 'As Needed' medications from there:

When the confirmation button is tapped on the last step (As Needed medication) the carer will be taken back to the task list view and the Medication Administration task will be completed.

Important: It is mandatory that the carer press the confirmation button in each of the 3 medication categories, this is the only way the medication administration task will be marked as completed.

Navigate across medication lists from a past or in a future day

Medication lists from past or future dates can be consulted from the today's medication list

Above the medication categories carers will see the date of today. The calendar is hidden but it can be made visible by clicking into the calendar icon next to the word "Today".

This way carers can have a look at past and future medication lists of this client and they can always come back to the present date by clicking the BACK TO TODAY option:
